Not suitable for: large simple models, items that will be handled roughly
The Rapidshape S30L is a DLP printer, using a projector to cure layers of photoresin using black and white images in layer thicknesses of 25, 35 and 50 microns. It offers fantastic surface finish quality, and because the projector exposes the entire build bed every layer, printing mutliple items takes the same time as a single object.
Models will need a support structure attaching before printing, which does mean there is some post-processing involved; we can remove it for a small charge, but equally anyone who has any modelling experience will find it fairly easy to remove with a scalpel and clippers. Connection points can be cleaned up with fine sandpaper or a scalpel.
Prints are suitable for painting for presentation purposes or moulding and casting. While the resin is very hard and can withstand a lot of pressure, it can be brittle if dropped or bent. For this reason we don't recommend it for items where the print is intended to be the final product.
